About the Art

My imagery is based heavily in nature including botanical images, landscapes and animals. I am deeply inspired by nature; my process begins with immersing myself in wild and untamed experiences such as backpacking across mountains, sailing in the gulf or kayaking in the bayou. From each of these experiences I take with me memories that become scenes on my pottery. My work is created to bring people back to nature. The goal of my work is to encourage people to seek out the same adventures I now crave and find peace in the natural beauty of the great outdoors.

I am inspired by the various cultures and longstanding traditions surrounding tea, this inspires many of my various teapot shapes. Each pot is hand painted, the imagery is applied either by hand drawing, stamping or stenciling using handmade stencils made of either paper or stencil blanks.  I take great joy in combining painterly techniques with a ceramic medium and exploring and pushing the boundaries of this medium.
