My ceramics are dishwasher and microwave safe. The proper way to cook with handmade stoneware is to put the food in the dish and then put food + dish in a COLD oven. Preheat the oven with the dish in it. Please do not shock your stoneware by thrusting it cold and unsuspecting into a piping hot oven or by cramming it into the refrigerator when it is toasty. It will be very angry with you indeed.
Do not use stoneware on the stovetop. They are not designed to take continuous heat from the range eye.

How to Use a Ceramic Teapot
  • Before first use, wash the inside and outside with hot soapy water, rinse and dry.

  • Do not use on stove. Boil water in a separate pot.

  • Always use a potholder when handling tea pot or tea pot with infuser.

  • Allow boiling water to settle for 20 seconds before handling or pouring.

  • Do not use steel wool, scouring pads, oven cleaners, bleach or strong abrasive cleaners.

Ceramic pots are usually glazed on the inside as well as the outside, and they can be hand-washed in soapy water. Rinse the pot thoroughly to remove any soap reside that might lend your tea an off-flavor. If the pot is too small for your hand, you may need to use a brush to clean the interior. A narrow bottle brush can be handy for removing stuck-on leaves from the spout. If your pot is unglazed on the inside, it’s intended to absorb the flavors of your tea. Never wash those pots with soap, because the soap flavor will become permanent. Instead, just rinse them with hot water.

I sincerely hope that you enjoy your vessel and that it lasts for many generations to come!
